PEOPLE & PLACE

This trip combines not only our favorite activities – hiking, rafting, yoga, and enjoying delicious food and wine – it also takes place in one of our favorite places in the country. Located in the backyard of MedTreks headquarters, Ashland Oregon – this trip is a world-class rafting destination, and we get to show you it through the eyes of a local!

The relaxed pace of this 4-day camp trip allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the river experience. This is a 50 mile continuous stretch of river, meaning each day we wake up and raft a new section of river and arrive at a new camp. There is no road access, no cars, no service – it is truly a Wild & Scenic unplugged river experience in one of the most beautiful settings in the Pacific Northwest.

The vibe is friendly, welcoming – open to all levels, from experienced boaters to anyone who is completely new to rivers and whitewater.

Nestled at the base of the Siskiyou and Cascade mountain ranges, Ashland has a reputation for great outdoor recreation, both in the city limits and beyond. Option: Book a few days’ arrival ahead of time to explore this charming art and outdoor town! Ashland is the home of MedTreks, so we are beyond excited to share this gem of a town and the surrounding area with our guests. Upon registration, we provide a detailed list of suggested local hikes, wineries, restaurants, and shows to enjoy during your visit.

The Rogue River

The Rogue River: More Than Just Rafting

The Rogue is one of our favorite rivers in the world. The Wild & Scenic section of this river is particularly special because there is a beautiful trail that runs the entire length of the 40+ mile Wild & Scenic Section. This means that in the mornings you can wake up and go for an early morning run. You also have the option of walking the stretch of the river for the day instead of rafting, if you are up for a hiking adventure! We will be taking you on some incredible side hikes to amazing waterfalls. You will explore crystal clear creeks and fern canyons, just steps away from the beach where your tent awaits you. It’s a magical and stunning trip that combines the best of any wilderness adventure!

More About the Rogue River

Wild & Scenic

A trip down the Rogue has been compared to being in a “Planet Earth” movie. There are narrow canyons of polished rock, cool grottos draped in ferns, heavily forested hillsides, big sandy beaches, some of the best swimming holes anywhere, cascading waterfalls, and hikes up tumbling sidestreams. It is common to see bald eagles, osprey, otters, and black bear.

There are over 80 rapids and the whitewater is fun and exciting, yet safe. The rapids and the choice of craft make the Rogue almost unmatched in its ability to satisfy a wide range of tastes and skill levels. In fact, it is not uncommon to see trips enjoyed by three generations of family or friends. You have the choice of sitting in relaxing oar boats, participating in more exciting paddle boats, or navigating the whitewater in an inflatable kayak (this adds a big level of excitement to the rapids).

For the many guides who grew up here, the Rogue is simply home – a place to recharge, relax, and live simply. At the end, that alone might say the most about this place.”

MedTreks Women and Whitewater

What the Ladies Say

I had an amazing time! My fear of doing outdoor stuff is what brought me to this trip. I have never been on a white water rafting trip or kayaking. But the wonderful guides were patient and encouraged me. Every little detail was thoughtful and appreciated. I have made connections with other strong and inspiring women. Mission accomplished, MedTreks! See you next year!

N.P., Nevada

This trip was OUTSTANDING. I can't say with words how much fun I had with MedTreks, AdventurUS Women, and Momentum River Expeditions. The white water was amazing, the food delicious, the accommodations luxurious, and the memories/relationships will last a lifetime. I had so much good, big fun! Highly recommend to everyone.

S.S., Utah

I loved this trip. I loved being on the water and trusting the skills of the guides. I loved that everyone was so helpful and happy to be there. The food was amazing, the shower and sauna were great extra touches. I will book another trip for sure!

A.B., California

Such a fantastic trip! Great people, great food, and great accommodations. The whitewater rafting was so much fun. The guides were all amazing. I already booked for next year!

(L.T., Nevada)

We had a wonderful time. Beautiful scenery, delicious food, incredible staff, and great company. The safari-style tents were generous in size with comfortable cots and pads. There is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of a river with clear, star-lit skies above. We could stay on the group boat or try our skills on a kyack or paddleboard. The staff was very kind and supportive. And the rapids were lots of fun with plenty of float time... I enjoyed the side hikes and the floats in the river. The lecture on global health was very good, with information that could be applied in many settings. They welcomed family members to come along. It was a great vacation for our family.

(J.F., California)

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.
