This Trip is For You
If you love being active, appreciate good food and comfortable accommodations, and want your time away to feel well spent, this trip is for you. It’s a great choice if you’ve always wanted to ski Japan and prefer having the details handled: where to ski each day, how to find the best conditions, and how to make the most of your time on and off the mountain. With a local team guiding the experience, you don’t have to overthink logistics or planning.
You don’t need to be an expert skier to join. Whether you’re looking to improve your skills, explore new terrain, or simply enjoy consistent, high-quality snow at your own pace, there’s flexibility built in.
Over the course of the week, you’ll have the flexibility to ski across five different resorts in the Niseko area, which gives us a lot of range depending on conditions and what the group is looking for each day. Midweek, we’ll mix things up with a day trip to Kiroro, known for its deep snow and slightly more laid-back feel compared to Niseko. After a full day of skiing, we’ll continue on to the nearby port town of Otaru for a different pace. Otaru has a distinct charm—historic canals, small streets, and a strong local craft scene. We’ll have time to explore, visit sake and whisky distilleries, and wander through artisan shops before heading back. It’s a great way to experience another side of Hokkaido and adds a nice cultural layer to the week.
We have chosen one of Niseko’s luxury boutique properties, combining contemporary Japanese design with the warmth and comfort of a mountain retreat. The ski lifts are just a short walk away, making it easy to get on the mountain each morning without complicated logistics. After a full day of skiing, guests can unwind in the natural hot spring onsen, with both indoor and outdoor baths, or simply relax back at the lodge. You’ll also be within easy walking distance of Hirafu’s excellent restaurants, cafés, shops, and après-ski spots, giving you the freedom to explore Niseko’s lively mountain village while still having a quiet and welcoming place to come home to.

Network & Connect
Dr. Christian Dean is a board-certified family medicine physician with a focus in sports, adventure, and expedition medicine. His passion for high-altitude travel began early and has taken him across multiple continents, including research work on Denali and Everest. He has served as an expedition physician on several Everest climbs and brings deep experience managing medical care in remote, high-risk environments. After working as a hospitalist in New York City during the early COVID-19 surge, he returned to his mountain base in Missoula, where he continues clinical work alongside expeditions, skiing, and teaching. He holds a Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) and Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM), and leads MyDocInTow, providing expedition support and wilderness medicine education worldwide.
We are so excited to share this Japan experience with you. The plan is simple: wake up in our beautiful ski in and ski out lodge, enjoy a full day on the slopes, return to a relaxing soak in our hotel’s onsen, followed by an engaging CME session over happy hour, and then head out into the streets of Niseko for a steaming bowl of ramen or delicious Japanese meal with our group. It is one of the best ways to end a powder day! On the mountain, we’re partnering with an exceptional local guiding team who know Niseko’s terrain and snowpack intimately. Each morning, they’ll read the conditions and guide us to exactly where we should be. For those looking for a little more adventure, we’ll have guided backcountry and cat skiing options that are hard to find anywhere else in the world. We can’t wait to share this place with you!
