Our tour begins in the world-famous city of Venice, Italy. You can choose to spend some extra time here before or after our Dolomites trek. Known for its stunning architecture, rich history, art & culture, this enchanting city built on a group of 188 small islands and separated by canals with boutique shops and incredible restaurants…is a perfect way to end your trip hiking in the mountains!

From quiet alpine corners to jaw-dropping limestone towers, these days deliver the full emotional arc of the Dolomites.
After several miles of alpine hiking, you will arrive to a mountain hut to enjoy a delicious warm meal and a tasty beverage…you will also be warmly welcomed by the incredibly friendly, Ladin people. There are about 30,000 Ladins divided into 5 valleys around the Sella Group (Val Badia, Val Gardena, Val di Fassa, Livinallongo, Ampezzo). Each valley has its own idioms. Sometimes words can be completely different from one valley to another. This place is not only rich in natural history and mountain treasures, there is an incredible culture integrated within the region. Course Info
International Wilderness Life Support (IWLS)
For medical professionals participating in CME, our Dolomites trip includes the option to complete International Wilderness Life Support (IWLS) Certification. This hybrid course combines self-paced online modules before the trip with practical, scenario-based learning during the expedition.
IWLS is designed for clinicians who want to feel more prepared to assess, treat, and make decisions in remote and resource-limited environments. This includes places where weather, distance, limited supplies, and delayed evacuation can shape patient care.
Course topics include:
• Patient assessment in austere environments
• C-spine stabilization and patient movement
• Hypothermia packaging and environmental illness
• Wound care with limited resources
• Splinting and orthopedic injury management
• Ocean and water medicine
• Travel medicine and global health principles
• Wilderness medical kits and evacuation decision-making
• Scenario-based simulations for certification
Participants may earn up to 28 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and/or 28 nursing contact hours through the IWLS course.
As with all MedTreks trips, the travel experience comes first. The CME component is available for those who want it and is designed to support the expedition experience without turning the trip into a traditional conference.
Can loved ones and non-medical guests attend?
Yes! We welcome friends, family and loved ones to attend. This course is particularly set up so loved ones can attend all lectures if they choose or they can simple have an extra 1-2 hrs each evening to explore or relax at our lovely hotels.

Yes! As long as the trip is booked before the final payment is due (90 days before trip start). A non-refundable deposit secures your spot on the trip.
Our CME trips are all accredited for physicians, NPs, PAs and also provide CEUs for Nurses. We provide course information for all the courses that you can submit to your employer. After the trip/course is complete, we provide you with a CME certificate within 2-4 weeks
We provide you with a comprehensive Welcome Package that includes a packing list, resources, course materials, and helpful travel tips for your upcoming adventure.
Yes! We welcome loved ones and non-medical guests on our Dolomites CME Hiking Tour in Italy. They are welcome to attend all of our workshops and lectures while on the trip at no further cost. Some of our trips are even kid-friendly, depending on the trip and age of your children. Please send us an email to inquire about this possibility.
