About Health Without Borders Campaign

Help Build Healthcare Capacity in Kenya

Our program in Kenya now works regularly with over 1,000 community health volunteers.

Who are Community Health Volunteers?

Community Health Volunteers live and work in the communities they serve. Our Community Health Volunteers or CHVs are responsible for more than 30 families within their village. They make daily home visits to their community members to provide health education and offer assistance with health services.

What is the need?

In rural areas of Kenya, Community Health Volunteers help to improve the accessibility of healthcare services but often work with limited health supplies and few opportunities for education and skills training.

How are we addressing this?

Our program works regularly with the CHVs to offer training and mentorship to support them in their work.

This September our team will be providing a Wilderness First Aid Certification course to the Community Health Volunteers.

As part of this course they will also receive a training manual, notebook and First Aid Kit.

How Can You Help?

You can help by sponsoring a CHV with a First Aid Kit. We will provide the training and as part of their Certificate, we will supply a First Aid Kit to the Community Health Volunteers that they can now use in to help take care of urgent needs in their villages.

MedTreks Kenya

Our MedTreks Kenya program works to build healthcare capacity in Kenya through a collaborative partnership with Village HopeCore International.

This September our focus will be on providing a certification course for Community Health Workers in Wilderness First Aid & Response. The curriculum is built off the Train-the-Trainer model, where we will certify local Kenyan “trainers” of Wilderness First Aid who will then go on to train the rest of the 1,000 Community Health Volunteers in our HopeCore program.

Once our training in September is completed we will open source our training modules and materials for other programs and trainers to use free of charge.

If you would like to help support the program or would like to contact our medical director, please email: ari@medtreksinternational.com
