About MedTreks
Handcrafted CME Adventure Travel & Medical Education Trips around the World
MedTreks is a high-touch adventure travel company built by medical professionals. We design carefully curated trips with trusted local partners, strong attention to safety and comfort, and a team that’s deeply involved before, during, and after you travel. CME is available on many of our trips, but each experience is designed as a vacation first.
Travel to remarkable places, connect with like-minded people, and learn practical medical skills you can carry into the field, your work, and future adventures.
MedTreks is a community of healthcare professionals with a shared passion for travel, adventure, and learning medical skills that go beyond the hospital walls.
In addition, our faculty are experts in their fields and are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and experience in wilderness and travel settings.
Although our trips are designed with medical professionals in mind, we welcome anyone who wants to travel the world, discover remarkable wilderness areas, and learn practical skills along the way.
Our Story
The early days of MedTreks began in 2007 when founder and owner, Ari Rasori launched her vision after graduating pre-med from UC Santa Barbara.
Unsure if medical school was the right direction for her, Ari spent the summer after graduation in Kenya. She was volunteering and studying a community health program, Village HopeCore International. During this time, Ari became fascinated with global health and the importance of having cross-cultural healthcare experiences that are valuable, authentic, ethical and sustainable.
After Kenya, Ari spent 9 months living in Brazil. Her year abroad solidified the decision to switch her career path from physician to nurse practitioner. All with an intention to have more flexibility to continue her passion for travel, adventure and medicine – and begin forming the foundation of her company, MedTreks International.
While the vision for MedTreks began in 2007, our roots date back to the 1980s.
Growing up in a family of medical professionals who also ran a travel company, Ari learned from an early age the art and joy of designing trips and coordinating tours.
Ari was 6 months old when her father Phil Rasori, an MD and her mother, Rosemary Rasori, an RN, hosted their first trip for nurses to the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico.
This cross-cultural field course in Mexico began a series of international trips for medical professionals with the Rasori family over the next 20 years with trips to all seven continents.
Spending her childhood traveling all over the world, Ari learned to love the lifestyle of combining travel with education.
Stepping away from international trips for several years to complete her masters in nursing and post-masters degree as an NP, Ari soon returned to scouting destinations and designing courses. The, she slowly began expanding MedTreks, sharing her love of travel and adventure while combining wilderness medicine & global health education.
Ari continues her career working part-time as an NP in the Emergency Department. She also works as the Public Health Program Development Director of Village HopeCore International, Kenya.
Today, MedTreks continues to grow with an incredible community of passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic medical professionals. We welcome you to our family!
“I feel incredibly blessed to design experiences that bring people together to learn, grow, adventure, discover, have fun and connect. As a medical professional who works regularly in the healthcare system, I understand the challenges and the opportunities that we have each and every day. Being in medicine is very rewarding, but it can also be tiring and depleting. My hope is that these trips provide people with a fun and purposeful way to reconnect with the art of medicine and spark a new zest for life, while discovering deep wellness through adventure and human connection across boundaries and borders. I hope to meet many of you on a future MedTreks trip.”

“My family and I have been traveling for years with MedTreks. Each trip is a new experience and the perfect mix of education, adventure, gourmet food and beautiful cultural experiences. To be able to experience sustainable health care in rural Kenya, surfing and learning medical Spanish in Costa Rica, visiting Machu Picchu with the sunrise, or whitewater rafting and learning wilderness medicine each trip has created beautiful memories and leaves me ready to sign up for the next adventure. I have yet to find a company that understands sustainable health care and can balance adventure sports with great food and cultural experiences. We look forward to every journey with Ari and MedTreks” – J.D, Physician Assistant, Washington DC
