Peru CME Adventure FAQ
Curious about our Peru CME Adventure? You’re not the only one! We’ve gathered answers to some of the most common questions we get about this incredible trip.
Who can join the Peru CME Adventure?
We designed this trip for medical professionals, but partners, friends, and solo travelers are always welcome. Non-medical guests can join the lectures if they’d like or spend that time exploring at their own pace.
When does the trip take place, and how long is it?
The Peru CME Adventure runs September 12–21, 2026 and lasts 10 days (with optional add-ons like the Amazon Extension). We travel in small groups of around 16 people to keep the experience personal and connected.
How active is the trip?
You’ll hike at a comfortable, guided pace through scenic mountain trails: moderate hikes, some altitude, and incredible views along the way. We’ve built in time to acclimatize and options to adjust each day’s activity, so it works for nearly everyone.
Do we really hike the Inca Trail?
Yes! Four days of trekking along ancient Inca stone paths with experienced guides, local porters, and all permits handled. Nights are spent under starlit Andean skies in deluxe tented camps. It’s a highlight of the Peru CME Adventure.
How do we experience Machu Picchu?
You’ll arrive at sunrise through the Sun Gate, just as the first light touches the ruins followed by a private guided tour. There’s also time for optional hikes like Huayna Picchu or a relaxing visit to local hot springs.
What kind of lodging is included?
We stay in premier and boutique lodges throughout the Sacred Valley, paired with comfortable tented camping on the trail. Every property is handpicked for its charm, comfort, and connection to place.
What about the food?
Additionally, another major highlight of our Peru CME Adventure is the food! Expect farm-to-table Andean meals, gourmet picnics, a traditional Pachamanca feast cooked beneath the earth. Truly, you’ll be dining in Cusco’s best restaurants.
How much CME is included?
Earn 12 hours of Category 1 CME, with additional CEUs for RNs. In fact, sessions are short, practical, and often held in the evenings over happy hour so that you can learn without missing the adventure.
Is there a community health component?
Yes, you’ll spend half a day collaborating with a local health program in the highlands. It’s a meaningful way to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and experience public health in context.
How do we handle altitude?
Because much of the trip takes place at elevation, the itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatization in the Sacred Valley. Our guides monitor guests daily, and you’ll receive pre-trip resources for training, preparation, and packing.
Can I extend my trip to the Amazon?
Absolutely! Our optional Amazon Extension adds four days at a rainforest lodge (complete with canopy walkways, wildlife spotting, and night walks along the river.)
What’s included in the price?
From $6,895 per person (double occupancy), your trip includes boutique lodging, meals, transfers, guides, permits, and CME programming. Oh and single supplements are also available.
How do I book?
Reserve your spot with a non-refundable deposit. Final payment is due 100 days before departure. Once you’re confirmed, we’ll send a comprehensive Welcome Pack with everything you need.
Can partners or families come?
