Women in Adventure Travel: Meet our All-Female Team
Hi everyone, Anna here!
This past March, we celebrated Women’s History Month, and it got me reflecting on something really special: the amazing women in adventure travel who make up our MedTreks team.
That’s right! We’re an all-female team! While this wasn’t planned, it’s become one of the most beautiful and empowering aspects of MedTreks. Each woman brings something unique to the way we design and lead global adventures, blending expertise in medicine, wellness, and travel with heart, a lot of grit, and joy.
To celebrate Women’s Month, we asked each team member a simple question: What fills your cup? Here’s what we shared… I hope you enjoy reading this blog post about “Women in Adventure Travel: Meet our All-Female Team”.

Pilates and traveling with my husband and our huskies are what keep me grounded!
Pilates helps me stay strong and balanced (physically and mentally) and it’s my way of recharging after long shifts. Traveling is our escape: road trips, new places, and memory-making with our huskies by our side.

Right now, we’re deep into home improvement projects! Last month, my husband and I installed insulation under part of our house! When I’m not working or DIY-ing, I love cooking, walking with our dogs in the Redwoods, or heading out to the beach.

The out-of-doors is where I feel most alive. The mountains are my home! I’ve spent weeks alpine skiing, hiking Colorado 14ers, biking, and backpacking.
But the ocean is my Zen. I’ve listened to whales call to their pods, watched parrotfish crunch coral, and seen a jawfish incubate eggs in his mouth. It’s an ethereal world under the sea.
This is our Earth, and we must continue to protect it: our air, our land, and our water. (Here is some of my underwater photography, including a jawfish mid-parenting!)

For me, it’s definitely the dog-friendly adventures. My dog Dingo and I ski, backpack, hike, and run canyons together.
It’s a special kind of “fill my cup” because watching my dog be happy to be outside just compounds it for me. Oh, her name is Sam, and I call her “Dingo”, because that’s exactly what she looks like!

Ultrarunning is my passion, and I’m thrilled to be running the Western States 100 this June! What I love most:
- The community: sharing sunrises and stars with fellow runners I’ll never forget
- The volunteers: showing up in the rain and cold, supporting us through the hard miles
- The mindset: pushing past what feels possible, with a calm and joyful heart

I’m happiest outside. For the past 3 years, I’ve been learning to speedfly, slowly, since we don’t have ski lifts in Ecuador! That means hiking up in the dark, hoping for a good weather window, and flying off into the Andes at sunrise if it all aligns. I also love mountain biking and backpacking! There is a lot that fills my cup – it’s all about balancing all the fun with work 🙂 I have a lot of FOMO (fear of missing out) – but while I love people, my cup gets filled in the quiet moments: spending time outside in nature, hiking/skiing with my dog, rafting with my partner, yoga, biking, and sharing a good meal with friends.
