10 Wonderful Places to Visit in Bali

There is a reason why Bali has become one of the most popular destinations for an unforgettable visit. The breathtaking nature and the beautiful temples and culture are among the many wonders that await those who make the trip to reach this Indonesian island. Here are 10 of the many wonderful places you should visit when you come to Bali!

Pura Tanah Lot

Bali is well-known for its temples, and one of the most impressive and beautiful ones is Tanah Lot. It was built in the 16th century and is considered one of the most sacred places on the island. The view of the sunset from here is simply breathtaking. Keep in mind that foreigners are not allowed to enter the temple. However, you can still enjoy the beautiful architecture and the unique environment surrounding the temple.

Sanur

Sanur Beach is a popular spot for its crystalline waters and beautiful sunrises. It’s perfect for a relaxing day since it has some of the calmest waters on the island. Plus, if you are an art enthusiast you might want to visit Le Mayeur museum to see some of the artwork from this Belgian impressionist.

Nusa Lembongan

Do you want to visit an entire island in less than three hours? That’s no problem on Nusa Lembongan, a small island very near to the largest island that comprises the majority of Bali province. If you love to explore the sea, this is a perfect spot to do some snorkeling, with different species swimming around, and clear waters that allow you to see them all.

Mount Batur

Have you ever hiked a LIVE VOLCANO? It sounds scary, doesn’t it? However, this live volcano is a popular hiking place for many visitors, and there’s a good reason for it. The amazing reward of going up Mount Batur before daylight has broken is the spectacular sunrise you will get to enjoy from up here. If you don’t want to wake up that early, that’s fine. The views are worth the hike at any time of day.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu

A temple located right on a cliff-top is one of the most important such structures in Bali. Luhur Uluwatu was built in the 11th century and gives you a true sense of the richness of Bali’s history. You can take a look at the structure from the outside as you are not allowed to enter. However, there is much to enjoy during this visit including seeing the monkeys looking for food from visitors, and the traditional dances performed in the evening.

Lovina

Have you always wanted to see dolphins in their natural habitat? Lovina is the ideal place for this. If you are going to spend time in the northern part of the island, this is a boat ride you just can’t miss. The beaches are strikingly different from those in other areas of Bali: the sand is black, due to its volcanic origins.

Ubud Monkey Forest

Animal lovers feel right at home when they visit the Ubud Monkey Forest, also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. You will get to see these monkeys in person, perfect if you are a photography afficionado. There are also ancient statues and small temples, and the monkeys roam freely, giving a sense of being entirely immersed in the jungle.

Canggu

There’s a little bit of everything in Canggu. If you love water sports, there are great beaches in the area where you can surf to your heart’s content. If you are more interested in local agriculture, you will be able to see the rice terraces, while enjoying the natural surroundings. And if you just really crave a cup of coffee, there are plenty of coffee shops ready for you!

Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach is a very interesting beach located in the southern area of the island. One part of the beach is known for being calmer, meaning you can relax and simply connect with nature. The other area is a lot more lively, with people visiting day or night (usually a younger crowd can be found here). Overall, it’s a beautiful beach with great waves for surfers and a wonderful place to get some sun and enjoy Bali.

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan

Last, but not least, is one of the most beautiful temples in the entire area. Ulun Danu Bratan has one of the most scenic Balinese landscapes you could ever hope for. Its location right next to the lake creates an amazing visual effect since, sometimes, it almost seems like the temple is floating. You can rent a canoe and actually explore the lake and get closer to the temple, as well. It’s simply extraordinary.
